We are pleased to announce the exhibition, Between Here and Now, featuring sculpture, painting, photography, and multimedia installation from twenty-two artists. The selected works reflect collective and individual responses to two years of imposed isolation. Adapting to uncertainty, the artists embrace new approaches that mine the past and present to build forward.
The exhibition conjures a unique vision of the present moment as the artists investigate new materials and themes, reimagine personal histories, or expand the limits of a medium. Between Here and Now explores the liminal space between apparent dichotomies: disorientation and reorientation, anxiety and comfort, isolation and community, resistance and momentum, disintegration and reintegration, movement and stasis. These dynamic practices coalesce around an unknowable and fluid future.
Brought together by a desire to participate in a creative and supportive community, the artists found each other through Vantage Points, an alternative art education platform founded by interdisciplinary artist Heidi Norton. The exhibition is presented across three floors of the historic red-brick warehouse at 207 Front St. at the South Street Seaport. There will be an opening reception on Friday May 6th from 6 to 10pm. The work will remain on display through May 15 and online at www.wearevantagepoints.com/between-here-and-now
