A community of artists united by education.

Vantage Points allows students to refine their skills while working alongside other developing and committed artists. At our classes and workshops, you’ll make inspiring connections and form collaborative relationships that can last throughout your career. See what some of our students have achieved below.

Francis Reynolds
University of New Mexico MFA Candidate 2023

The close, personalised attention that students receive in Heidi's classes provided me with the tools I need to discover my own artistic practice.

Francis Reynolds enrolled in our Advanced Studies Course in preparation for his grad school application. In addition to coursework at the International Center of Photography, his study with Heidi Norton was integral to developing his practice and his acceptance into the University of New Mexico graduate program for photography.

Marika Kent
Interdisciplinary Artist

With Heidi’s guidance, I have not only produced work that I’m proud of, but have built a foundation for a lasting artistic practice.

Marika is an experienced set designer and interdisciplinary artist who began taking classes with Heidi with the hopes to improve her technical skills in photography. After only a year of classes she ended up going further and unearthing a deeper understanding of her artistry.

Christina Beahan

Practicing Artist

These classes have pushed me way past shooting for my online business and into the work I have always wanted to do.

Christina Beahan worked as a textile designer for nearly 20 years before a photography class with Heidi Norton gave her the foundational elements to begin building her work as a photographer. In the course of a year, Christina used Heidi’s instruction and feedback to achieve clarity about her identity as an artist, allowing her to make a career out of practicing her true passion.

Shala Miller

Practicing Artist & Bard College MFA Candidate 2023

I will forever be grateful for Heidi Norton and her pedagogy... and will continue to carry the bits of her teachings with me always.

Shala Miller's studies with Heidi Norton in undergrad helped her in preparing for the Skowhegan Residency, becoming an MFA candidate at Bard College, and their most recent exhibition with Chart Gallery. Miller's work has been included in group shows/screenings at Helena Anrather (New York), Red Bull Arts (New York), AC Institute (New York), and Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago).

Topica Collective is an evolving collective formed in 2019 that aims to enrich the practices of its members through further development of artistic community and shared resources. All workshop participants and students are invited to join and participate.

Over the course of a year, under the mentorship of Vantage Points founder Heidi Norton and the assistance of our instructor Antonio Bever, they have ambitiously worked to create art that reveals the truths, tragedy, and isolation of the pandemic. Visiting artists include Constance Faulk and our instructor Kate Steciw.
