Service Description
This course is designed to explore what it means to make work through the complexity of human experience. We will focus on how to foster resilience and creativity to persevere during challenging periods, encompassing personal, financial, political, and emotional hardships. Throughout the course, we will engage in conversations about harnessing the power of art and the creative process as tools to mediate and incorporate trauma and adversity into a sustainable artistic practice. We will explore strategies like side hustles, communal living, resource sharing and the concept of a “post-studio” practice. We will learn how to create meaningful work even within the constraints of limited financial/emotional resources and how to turn difficult experiences into a driving force for your creative expression. We'll show you ways to use your personal challenges as inspiration. We'll highlight how art can be therapeutic, helping you to heal and develop as an artist at the same time. This class will NOT be a bummer! It’s actually about generating inspiration within the intensity and diversity of our dynamic human experience. 12/4 - 2/19 (10 weeks) Mondays 11:30-2pm EST
