Service Description

What does a digital gesture look like? How and when does this translate into a physical object? How do digital tools shape our practices? Is AI going to ruin art? How are YOU using or misusing your digital tools? These are a few of the questions we will explore in this course. Taught through the lens of the instructor's material and technological practices, students are invited to investigate the influence and artifacts of the digital world on their work. Readings and discussion will range from the history of Digital Art to recent developments such as Glitch Art, generative practices, AI, and NFT's. Together we will unpack the practical, cultural, and conceptual ramifications of working with digital tools. Students will be instructed on and given exercises exploring different mark making and production techniques both online and off.
